Cool Third Degree Viking Legit?

Eric Byrnes - real deal or fluke - and why?

He's a baseball player, not a toolsy prospect. He's stretched in CF, but he should be playing over T. Long.

He may very well be the answer to A's leadoff hitter prayers. In the at bats I've seen of him he's shown good knowledge of the zone and shortens up with two strikes. If he can keep it up he may becomea premiere table setter.

I agree completely with this analysis.

He also plays as hard as anyone; he really throws himself into his defense. While this could end up with him getting hurt (I hope not ), it's a pleasure to watch and speaks well of his makeup and dedication to being a good baseball player.

He's probably not going to be an All-Star but I would take him for my team. Team him up with David Eckstein and watch the hustle.

A's scouting folks called him "relentless" three or four years ago.

But he's 27 now.

Wouldn't it be better if he was in Cincy, because the Viking was Eric the Red.

Anywho - Byrnes is no flavor of the month.

Fluke or not, I think Eric the Green (and Gold) belongs in Cell Phone Park for the all-star game. I am really stunned to see how this good he is right now. I don't think he'll get there for various reasons...but he oughta.

And he added to his breakout year with a cycle. Always was a fan of cyclists...

Just saw that he hit .095 for the month of July. Ouch.
