Unhappy 2001 World Series Game 6 Thread

Note: I started this thread as the score stands 12-0 Arizona AFTER THREE INNINGS!

Safe to say: The three losses in NY did not crush the D-backs.

Any predictions on a final score? D-backs are on pace to win this one 32-zip.

Should 32 be the over-under?

Let's hope Sunday is a closer game. Not looking forward to having to hear Buck and McCarver try and fill in for the next 5 and a half innings.

I had figured on a Yankee loss in this game, though not by this much.

What's amazing is how much the Diamondbacks have dominated the Yankees in this series, yet, they'll only be tied after tonight, barring a Herculean comeback against the best pitcher in baseball.

The baseball fan in me is real happy this is going 7 games. What better theater could there be then Roger Clemens vs. the entire Arizona Diamondbacks pitching staff in the final game of the World Series? And I still give the DBacks 60-40 odds on winning it all. The Yankees have scored all of 5 runs in well over 40 innings now against pitchers not named Kim.

P.S. - I've had McCarver and Buck muted from the beginning, and I can honestly say I don't think I've missed out on much enlightening commentary.

OK, now it's 13-0. Ugh.

What was the deal with the 1960 Series? Yanks won all theirs by blow-out and the Pirates squeaked out all their wins (and won the series), no?

Maybe the Yanks can be the 1960 Pirates? Win it on a Clay Bellinger PH HR in the 9th tomorrow.

Still watching? I'm not that much of a masochist . I betcha Kevin Towers is watching Jay Witasick 'pitch' (and I use that in the most liberal sense) and laughing uproariously.

'60 Series was also highlighted by a bunch of questionable managerial moves, right? There've been plenty on both sides in this Series so far.

Default EyeGlasses

I noticed Jay Bell was wearing eyeglasses, I remember Darrell Porter doing that back in the 70's for the Royals, but can't recall any other position player(non-pitchers) doing that.

I've had time to think about stuff like this because of the thumping the Yanks are taking - 15-0 in the 5th.

God isn't it a wonderful world after all.

Default 10 Run Rule

Too bad there is no 10 run rule in the World Series.

Oh boy - nothing warms up my heart like seeing the Yankees get pounded.

Now they've managed to plate 2 on 4 consecutive hits by a bunch of Yankee bench players.

Really says something about your team when the utility men are outhitting the regulars.

I usually never turn my eyes away from the TV when the Yanks are in the series. But, as the score is 15-2 with 2 out in the top of the 8th, I switched to the radio so that I could come on the PC. Just now, I went to get my water bottle (which I left by the TV) and I didn't take off my radio headset. Know what? FOX has a 7 second delay on the TV broadcast. I'm hearing things 7 seconds before they happen on the TV. VERY STRANGE!

Why do you think FOX does that? Maybe so they can handle cursing off the field mikes?

All I can say is UGH!

I can't believe I stayed home on a Saturday night for this...at least if I had taken my friends up on watching it at the bar, I could have been sloshed and not watching by now ...but on the chance we were going to win, I wanted to be home, watching it and all the post game stuff, ugh, ugh, ugh...

what a strange night....Pettitte had nothing...absolutely nothing ...I think I could have hit those pitches...Martinez and Pettitte get the first two Yankee hits, both lefties -- Pettitte? The guy who wore his jacket into the batter's box last year?? Huh???

This game was not to be...it seems like the longest game I've ever watched...good news is -- Clemens has been our stopper all year, and when we've been blown out in the past in the playoffs, we've come right back the next night...so, now it's a one game playoff...I think we all should have our blood pressure checked after this week...

Net -- your board has the best smileys hands down if that means anything to you! I'm an optimist and I'm always looking for the positives!!

Default Luna take heart ......

your team has been in this position all year, all post season for that matter. We all know how those other games turned out. I never count the Yanks out.

thanks hm!! I never count my team out until the very last out (even before this week ) and I never write or say predictions out loud, but I'm very confident going into tomorrow with Rocket on the mound!! Go Yanks!

Now you know why I question why Joe takes out Paulie against Randy. He's a great fielder so it may be more a matter of how little you give up than how well you produce. As long as Paulie doesn't hit into DPs all the time, he's not killing any rallies.

A gazillion runs off Witasick and I'm wondering who he'll play for next year.

Just a gut feeling - - Pettitte may have be flat (choked, whatever) tonight - but, he could be in the pen tomorrow and may help in a big spot, if needed. At the least, it was a learning experience for him -- and, hopefully something positive will come out of it for him.

Strangely, after Jay Witasick coughed it up big time against Seattle in September (a Saturday), he came out to relieve Andy, who also got slammed.

People were wondering why Joe brought in Jay and surely enough, he throws a great inning or two. People asked aloud "Where were you on Saturday?" with that kind of stuff.

As to Joe's options, he's got a deep selection of reliables:

Hitchcock, Wohlers, Doza, Stanton, Mo, Hernandez, then Andy if we get into the 15th inning, there's no downpour and no one wants to blink first. If that fails, I'm on my way to the desert and will promise to do a half decent job out there on the mound.

Please tell me they just don't call off the 7th game of WS because both teams are unable to break a tie.
