Default Will we have a Triple Crown winner this year?

I think anyone who has watched the Derby and the Preakness has to be impressed to this point with Funny Cide. It was impressive enough that a gelding would win the Derby, but that Preakness victory guaranteed that he'd be known as more than just a trivia answer (I wonder if Distorted Humor will get the stud fees his son can't get).

On the positive side, he's proven that he has the ability to win the Crown, and he seems very comfortable with Santos. On the downside, 3 races in a short span is tough, he may have been worked too hard in the Preakness, the Belmont is the longest and most grueling of the 3 races, and he'll be facing a well-rested Empire Maker among other challengers.

Do you think he'll pull it off?

I don't even know what a gelding is, honestly. I thought that was a female horse.

I'm going to show my optimistic cide and say yes. The way he tore away at Pimlico (did I get the track right?) gives me a good feeling he'll do it. Granted, I've felt each time a horse has two legs recently that he'll get all three, only to have them miss out each time. But one of these days, I'll be right!

Not a female, but not as male as they once were. It's a castrated horse, hence the inability to think about stud fees down the road.

And I hope you're right - I'm always hoping that there will be a winner, but I've been disappointed several times.
