Rascal you sold me. I'll go with the Tribe! Why not! Karma bounce for you! Didn't that work for the Angels one year?

Aaron Boone shows the Tribe how to win and Millwood will be a born again pitcher to put them over the top.

Okay, here are reasons why the Royals will be in contention (i.e. not an embarrasment) this year:

1. Greinke. Yes, he is that good.
2. P Runelvys Hernandez is back, and at apparently full power. In 2003, started off 4-0 and was the most effective starter in the game until a lingering injury finally sat him down. Back from surgery, he has lost some unneeded weight and looks fully capable of pitching the whole season.
3. Mike Sweeney's back may, finally, be 100%. And Sweeney, last year, with a healthy back, would have hit 30 HR for the first time in his career, and drove in around 110 runs.
4. All Stars 1B Ken Harvey and P Mike MacDougal come to camp in shape. For Harvey, this means he's lost 40 pounds. For MacDougal, it means he's gained 15. Both players earned every bit of their All Star appearances in 04 and 03, even if both players "lost it" after the break. If one or both of them return to their early-season form, look out. MacDougal could have the best arm in Royals history--that's not just me saying that, that's Rob Neyer saying it too. He's also the clostest thing the Major Leagues have to a real-life Eddie Calvin "Nuke" Laloosh.
5. LHP Jeremy Affeldt is frightening. 96 mph heat + well-above-average curveball + control. If, for once, he actually performs as advertised, and without injuries, he is the third best pitcher in the division.

Well there it is; five reasons the Royals can compete, and four of them are question marks. Oh well. We can dream, can't we?

Whatever you are drinking or smoking I'll have some of. If everything breaks right for the Royals (I would have chose "they give Pickering 400+ AB's") they can aspire to mediocrity.

The Twins take it. A lineup of Stewart, Ford, Mauer, Morneau, Hunter, LeCroy/Restovich, Jones, Cuddyer, Bartlett and Rivas should provide more than enough offence, even with Santana and Radke likely to regress a bit in the roatation. Their bullpen remains the best in the division.

Behind the Twins it should look like this:

Indians
Tigers (Bonderman, Ledezma make the difference)
White Sox (Podsednik, Ozzie Guillen, Ken Williams weigh them down)
Royals
