Did you guys see this confrontation? While Sapp is a guy who likes the spotlight it seems Sherman sought him out after Sapp finished an interview to accuse him. My thoughts are that Sherman's tactics were low class. If you want to make it an issue, first watch the tape, then go through Gruden or the League office. Don't confront a 300 lb lineman after he's been in the trenches of a huge game, unlike you who have had to wear a dorky headset and wear a golf shirt all game, then accuse him of a dirty play with no flag thrown. Why not teach your lineman to watch everyone around you? I hope Sapp is vindicated by the league office upon review because his rep. notwithstanding, he got a clean hit in. I do feel badly for the guy who got hit , Clifton, and wish him a fast recovery.

I feel bad for Clifton, but Sapp's hit was a legitimate block. Once the ball is intercepted, the offense has to be ready both to tackle and to defend themselves from the type of hit that a 300-pound lineman can inflict.
I was surprised to see behavior like that from Sherman. From all accounts, he seems to be a quiet and classy guy. Even shortly after the game, he already seemed to realize that his actions may not have been smart, and he did talk about watching the tape before commenting further. Hopefully, Sherman realizes that it was simply an unfortunate incident, and that Sapp is not a dirty player. They both seem like good guys, so I'd like to see them resolve the issue. |

I suspect it was just a heat of the moment outburst caused by the rigors of an emotionally tough game.

I think Sherman just snapped after losing yet another player during that game. I know Sapp will do anything for attention, I've never thought of him as being a dirty player, and that probably wasn't a dirty hit, either. At least it wasn't Favre he hit on that play, although Brett would've survived it somehow just like everything else.

The Pack's offensive line coach is now declaring that his team will avenge the hit by going after Sapp:
http://espn.go.com/nfl/news/2002/1126/1467121.html This is probably the worst idea I've seen in a long time. Does he not realize that the Packers' franchise player has to face Sapp, Brooks, et al all game long? This is one they should have allowed to die. |

With luck, they won't play in the playoffs this year and both sides will cool off about this incident.....
