Default Tim Couch

There's a theory that you can take ANY halfway decent college QB, surround him with great talent, and make a HoF QB out of him.

Tim Couch has been sacked 140+ times in three and a half years, and has been pressured hundreds more times. He is not a good scrambler, but he has proven that he is tough -- the toughest young QB in the league, IMO.

Cleveland fans that show up for games hate him, in general, because he hasn't led a fourth-year expansion team to the playoffs, despite having had NO pass protection for three of those years and having one receiver who absolutely refuses to catch the ball when it's thrown right to him, and no running game at all until the last few games of this season.

Tim is going to stay in Cleveland so long as Butch Davis stays. If he left right now, he could hook up with a team with some real talent up front and have a pretty good career. Then people would be shaking their heads and wondering, "how did Cleveland let HIM go!"

Or he could turn it around, if he scrambled for yardage every time he was pressured, led the team in rushing yards every game and threw passes that even the worst receiver could catch with his eyes closed. And the next QB that can do all that will be the first.

That's why I hope Couch leaves -- not for the Browns sake, but for his own. Cleveland doesn't deserve a good, young, tough QB like Couch.

The whole Couch-Holcomb is a sham. Anyone who thinks Holcomb is a better alternative should spend their Sundays doing something other than watching NFL games, becauuse they know nothing about football. Let Couch leave, and then see how quickly the fans miss him.

Part of the problem this season stems from the first 2 starts Holcomb had, when he looked pretty good. Of course, what many of the fans failed to take into account is that fact that one of those games was against the Chiefs, who are easily the league's worst defense against the pass. His other "big" game was against the Bengals, who are 13th, and who are also simply the Bengals.

Couch has the ability to be a great quarterback, but I think a change of teams might help his cause. It's tough being the franchise guy, especially with a new team in a city like Cleveland. His numbers aren't great, but I don't know anyone who could win with that O-line and the parade of running backs they've had there over the past few years.

Browns' fans should lay off the booing and start supporting the guy who leads their team. If not, then Couch should leave. He's certainly welcome down here in Cincinnati!

Couch is a good QB but I am not sure if he will ever be great. The Browns should be in good shape next year. William Green looks like he can be a NFL running back and they should add some more good players through the draft and free agency. Couch isn't the problem and Cleveland fans should realize that quickly before they run him out of town.

Just imagine that ... you'd get half the state of Kentucky showing up for every home game just to see Couch. Think of all the revenue that the Bengals could then use to ... well ... just what do they do with their money anyway?

Couch now has a broken leg, and will likely miss the Browns' improbable playoff game.

... as will most of the non-northern-Ohio United States. If they're lucky, that is.
