Default 1975 Managers

Name the two managers hired at about the same time in mid-season by the Yankees and Royals, and also the managers they replaced.

I know Martin replaced Bill Virdon - - I was there for Billy's first game at Shea.

I'll guess on the Royals - - McKeon and Whitey?

How can you be right so often? What a burden it must be to be you.

Am I right? I swear, my mind is so full of basbeall junk - and on questions like this, I just try and sort through it and find the answer - - - like looking for car keys in your house, when they are lost - - you know they have to be SOMEWHERE, it's just finding it.

It was Whitey and Jack?

Indeed it was!

I just thought it was cool that Whitey and Billy were hired within days of each other, Martin just after being fired by the Rangers.

2 of my 3 favorite managers ever, along with T.K.. They talked straight, had time for the fans & media and put up with very little stupidy from those groups.

In 1975, the White Rat managed 66 games (41-25) and Martin managed 56 (30-26). After mid-season so I guess around August they were hired?

Anyway, check out this Billy Martin link.

Billy's first game as NY MGR was Old Timer's Day 1975 - - I was there - just remembered it was really hot - - probably late July early August.

Hey Steve, I was at that game also. It was my son first ML
game. Was stuck in traffic on the Deegan and it was hot,
my boy kept saying I want to go home. He was three and
first time in the big city. He was a big Reggie fan back then.

Red face

My parents was not like that, I remember those long car
rides in the country side on a beautiful day. But those long
walks home in the dark was a bitch.
