Could be that hitters are more impatient against him in the postseason? There's a lot of difference in facing Rivera in the 9th during a 162-game season where even the best teams lose 60 games, and facing Rivera in the 9th when another couple of losses means you go home.

Personally, I tend to believe he steps it up quite a bit during the postseason, due to the importance of every game.
