Randy Johnson faces pretty much the same situation
tonight that Roger Clemens was facing for the 3rd game. I'm not really sure there is any more pressure to escape elimination than there is to escape a sweep. Arizonia had just as much momentum at the start of game 3 as the Yankees do tonight. But there is a difference. The Yankee players may have questioned a decision or 2 by Torre but they had complete confidence in him. I don't see how the Arizonia players could not doubt Bremly's ability to make decisions under pressure or his ability to do what's best for the team. Also, I think a feeling of inevitability has set in. Ballplayers are humans and I'm certain at least some of the players are thinking that this is the Yankees year. That is a hard thing to overcome but under the circumstances it is a difficult thought to avoid. Johnson completely baffled the Yankees in game 2 and I see no reason to doubt that he will do the same thing tonight. But I do not believe this Series will go 7. I expect a breakdown somewhere along the line tonight by Arizonia. It could be something defensively, more managing mistakes (I think it is likely that Bremly will be trying TOO hard) but I think the Yanks will finish it tonight. It would be poetic justice if Arizonia came back in the bottom of the 9th tonight. But don't hold your breath. |

Since it's 12-0 ARZ at the end of three, I guess it's OK to close this thread.
