game of the week 10/20

I am picking the Bucs/Philadelphia as game of the week. This promises to be one of the best match ups in the whole season.

Philly needs a win bad to get back a game they should not have lost. The Bucs are playing awesome defense.

The line is Philly by 3. Take the Bucs and the points.

you won't like it when Vinnie and Luigi from South Philly get done with you.

among other things, Gruden gets to coach against his old team and I believe Reid and Gruden were both assistant coaches at Green Bay.

I can't see how Tampa can hurt the Eagles' defense, who has had two weeks to prepare. Eagles have beaten Tampa pretty soundly last couple of matchups, including playoffs.

Apparently Andy Reid told Staley and the linemen before the game: "Get ready to run the ball."

What Reid saw that made him think he could run the ball against the Bucs (second-ranked rush defense) is beyond me. But it worked.

actually, parcells said the key to the game was running against the bucs. he said that the bucs d line is very skilled, but "not that big".

i didn't believe parcells when he said it, but he was right (so was reid, obviously).

by the way, it's funny how running (faulk, tomlinson, deuce, james stewart just this week) can still win you ball games. if mike martz hadn't forgotten about running, he'd have a better record.

this was a great game. Didn't end up the way I wanted but the Bucs just aren't as good as Philly. Maybe with some luck and the wind in the right direction they can take Philly out in the playoffs.
