Not likely, the Braves were looking to save ten mill - - not something like 4 mill..........

I'd start Pettitte and Weaver, lose Wells, and move Duque to the pen.

I'd dump Wells and Hernandez. Both are overrated, and will probably bring in something in trade.
The rotation if I made the decisions would be Clemens, Mussina, Contreras, Pettite, Weaver. Maybe keep Hernandez just in case of an injury or Contreras doesn't work out. |

I picked "move Weaver to the Pen and lose el Duque." I think the Yankees need to start thinking about rebuilding rather than reloading. As shaky as Weaver was in 2002, he's got a lot of upside and could be a pitcher to build a rotation around in the future. That's why I'd hate to see him moved now.
I would be happy to see the Yankees lose David Wells, but I think they can get more value for el Duque so that's why I picked him to move instead of Wells. Fuzzy, your question about Millwood has me thinking. I'd certainly rather have him going forward than Weaver, I guess because he's less of a question mark. Interesting.

The rumor around the NY area a couple of weeks ago was that the Braves wanted Nick Johnson for Millwood and the Yanks didn't pull the trigger.
I voted other - I can't believe they signed Rocket. I mean I can but it was dumb. If you want to get younger you don't sign 40 year old pitchers. I would've dumped Clemens and included El Duque in a trade for Colon. Wells is here this year, I bet he'd retire before accepting a trade. I predict a starting 5 of Clemens, Pettitte, Mussina, Weaver, and Wells. They'll wait for either Clemens, Wells , or Pettitte to go on the DL and then put Contraras into the rotation (he'll be in long relief to start the season). Duque will be in the pen. |
