After being underrated until yesterday, Biggio is now poised to move into the super overrated category. Biggio has been in the majors since 1988 and, during that time, he ranks only 40th in hits vs. the league average. And, even that overstates Biggio's rankings amongst his peers. Looking at a players rankings during the time in which he was in the majors is a gerrymandered method that gives the player in question the advantage of his whole career while handicapping his contemporaries by arbitrarily declaring anything they did before the player reached the majors and after he left to be irrelevant. Using a more reasonable standard of defining a contemporary as someone whose career overlapped the player by at least a decade would just send Biggio plummeting even further down the list. Code:
