Default Yankee Mascot?

This is odd.

I don't remember hearing anything about a mascot for the Yanks, and they don't seem like an organization that would have one (ever).

But there exists a picture of Dandy, I stumbled onto it from a link in Wikipedia

http://www.acmemascots.com/roster/baseball/

Does anyone remember Dandy? There's no mention of him/her/it on wikipedia. There's little to no mention on the web.

Guess it didn't last too long, I'm thinking it had to be around during the 70's maybe early 80's...

I want to say it was early '80s. I saw him in the Loge once. Stein would not let him on the field, so, it never had the appeal of the Chicken.

Man, this is baseball. You gotta stop thinking. Just have fun.

I've been going to games since August 8, 1973....and on August 22, 2004, finally, a foul ball came my way. I had to reach for it, and it deflected off the tip of my right index finger. Shoot, if I was only 4 inches taller!

Have you read The Baseball Same Game?

I was never much of a fan of the idea of mascots, but they do have the ability to entertain between innings.

Figuring out how they tie into the team is the hard part....or maybe that's the point, that they DON'T.

Between innings is alternately reserved for getting/returning beer.

I can think of a few cases where they do; The Oriole, BJ & Diamond (Jays), the "Rootin Tootin Ranger," & Mr. Met, among others.

Generally, I'm not a big fan of mascots, but if they make the kids laugh, or if they provide decent entertainment, I don't mind them.

How many mascots injure themselves REALLY good? The Mariner Moose comes to mind immediately. Slider of the Indians fell off a wall and injured his knee in 1995.
