1) Bud Selig sent a letter this week to the union proposing a 50 game suspension for a 1st steroid offense, 100 for a 2nd a lifetime ban for a 3rd.
2) Nationals P Zach Day was scratched from yesterday's start, due to an inner ear infection. After 4.18 ERA/14 RSAA and 3.93 ERA/2 RSAA seasons, Day is off to a 5.09 ERA/-3 RSAA start in his first 4 starts (5 games). He has a 4.09 career ERA, compared to his league average of 4.27, and 15 RSAA in 66 games. 3) Phillies 1B Jim Thome had to leave yesterday's game, due to lower back spasms. After 53 RCAA/.958 OPS and 43 RCAA/.977 OPS seasons, Thome is hitting .304 SLG, .347 OBA, .651 OPS, -4 RCAA in his first 24 games. He has a .975 career OPS, compared to his league average of .773, and 567 RCAA in 1703 games. 4) The Giants called up P Brad Hennessey and sent P Scott Munter to the minors.
