1) According to the Beaver County Times, there's a rumor that the Padres would include P Jake Peavy and 3B Sean Burroughs in a trade with the Pirates, but Padres GM Kevin Towers says he won't trade Peavy and Burroughs is believed to be an untouchable.

2) According to the Seattle Times, the A's are still interested in Brian Giles, but the Pirates want P Rich Harden, SS Bobby Crosby or OF Nick Swisher, who are all untouchables.

3) According to the San Diego Union Tribune, the Marlins could get Rondell White from the Padres for C Ramon Castro, but that deal would be dead if the Marlins get Reggie Sanders from the Pirates. The paper also reports the sides are at least $12 million apart in their talks on how to divide Jason Kendall's salary in a Giles/Kendall deal and the Royals have also asked about White.

4) According to the Miami Herald, the Marlins are interested in Yankees RF Raul Mondesi.
