In 2000 and 2001, in New York, you really had to pass the gauntlet, security-wise, in order to get into the ballpark to see the Series. Plus, you were not allowed to bring in just about anything.
In the post-9/11 world, this all made sense. Watching the games in Anaheim, I kept wondering - - how the heck did people get in all those stuffed monkeys, etc.? I saw one stuffed monkey that had to be 3'x4' - - - - and, what about the guys in the gorilla suits? How did they get in? Are we now past the concern about ballpark security? Or, will it just be a NY thing now?

I think it's now a pat down and a check for concealment. You can bring in things if they are checked.

At the beginning of the year Pac Bell Park had restrictions on bags coming into the park. I used to bring a back pack, especially if I rode my bike. I found out late in the season that back packs were allowed in the park. It was subject to search, but at least you could bring it in. I brought it with me to the NLCS, since I rode my bike to the game I attended. I did not bring a bag to the WS game that I attended. It did not seem that there was extra security at the gatee.

I read that she was thrown out...the whole thing could ahve been avoided if she was never let in for that bad hair 'do alone. I guess it's hard to police what can be allowed into a stadium when you're supplying those thunder things -- I'm assuming they were given out at the door? sounds like the regular games at YS this year had more security than many of the playoff games elsewhere...
