Would moving them to San Juan save travel time for the players by not having to go thru international customs ????

I simply can't believe that the people in San Juan have sufficient discretionary income to support a MLB team.

As for Havana, the average monthly income income in Cuba is something like $50. Good luck getting paying customers. You can drop the embargo and send Cuba all the welfare you want but they are so poverty stricken it is unreal. Until the economic system changes there is no hope.

Probably ought to move them to KC. The people there haven't seen major league baseball in years.

their per capita income is about one-third that of in the mainland. so it would have to be subsidized to work. then again, i'm sure if they put a selig crony down there, the franchise could go 58-104 and turn a profit...

Vedy interesting article. I really hope it all works out, I think it'd be great to have a team in Portland.

Puerto Rico couldn't support a team the way MLB likes. But I bet the players would love living there. The weather is amazing and the people are cool.

I'm sure MLB is saving Portland as a future city to use as blackmail leverage to get stadium "improvements" in existing cities after the Expos end up in Washington.

Default Montreal's Jersey City?

http://espn.go.com/mlb/news/2002/1003/1440940.html

There are plans to move some games to the Big Hi next season. Maybe they are a bit more serious then we think...

Our favorite vagabonds may indeed play some home games "on the road". I guess auditioning other cities.

no way I stand for this if i'm the player's union.

interestingly, washington will not be one of those cities.
