I'd still take Tino, if that's what we're discussing. Of all the choices, I'd count on him to handle the pressure the best.

Got to go with Spiezio because of the glove and the fact that he's a switch hitter.
And yes, poorme. Scioscia would probably platoon Fullmer and Spiez at 1st if they reach the world series.
Wooten also plays 1st and catches.

Ditto. Actually,a platoon of Snow and Spiezio, or Minkey and Spezio, would be pretty effective.

i voted for douggie M. but ed spezio's kid is close. tino is the best player of the group but he's not that good anymore..

minor note:? alson, mcGraw, mack, durocher, McKechnie, and southworth all liked good gloves at first. anything that group agree on is worth thinking about.

ditto -- Snow is probably the best defensively (heard one of the Met announcers today comparing him to Mattingly and Keith Hernandez in the field), Spezio was the hottest going into tonight, Mientkiewicz (sp?) hasn't peaked yet but has the potential to be the best all around...but for the next two rounds, I want Tino on my team.

Not really moose-- similar to the way Justice seems to be either very lucky or knowing how to win or both, Tino has won in High School with Luis, college, won a Gold Medal for the US, won in Seattle in '95, with the Yankees and now with the Cards....

interesting poll poorme...thanks

ALmost none of the teams in the playoffs had a star first baseman. Giambi was the only guy I would consider a star. Maybe it's because the Tigers have cornered the market on 1B/Dh types.

Couldn't pull the trigger on any of those guys. Nothing special about any of them.
