They made it look too easy tonight. This Lakers' team is looking more and more like a dynasty. And with Kobe still getting better, some other team is going to really have to step us next season if they want to challenge the Lakers. I think a couple of teams might be close in talent, but the Lakers have an incredible ability to turn it on when they need it, and it goes well beyond the 2 main guys. Horry, Rick Fox, and Fisher are all clutch guys.
It must kill the Kings to watch this series, knowing the only thing that kept them out of the Finals was a lack of killer instinct. |

Its hard to watch the Lakers vs. (say) the Spurs and not believe that the concept of "clutch" has some merit. |

Actually, its hard to watch the Lakers vs. the Spurs and not believe that the concept of "fixed" has some merit. The WWF exhibits better officiating than you see in the NBA. I had the same reaction to the officiating in the last Bull's title series against the Jazz. Baseball umpires make the occasional mistake, but I've never doubted its honesty

Well - the Lakers pulled it out tonight after a very exciting Nets comeback to end the 3rd quarter and begin the 4th. Anyone with some flatware handy can stick a spare fork in the Nets. |

Oh, yeah, they've been cooked pretty much since the Lakers showed up for Game 1. I actually would like the Nets to win game 4, so their fans don't have to watch L.A. celebrate. |

It's been the Shaq show. The Nets don't have anyone to match up with him, and the Lakers have too many other weapons to ignore.

Yeah, it worked better Moose - but it didnt work.
Lakers - win. Kobe: 36 pts, 6 rebs, 4 assists, 60% shooting, 46 minutes. Not much of a stop if thats where they were concentrating. |

Funny how teams unfamiliar with playing the Lakers think that they can somehow stop Shaq. I always hear teams talk about the strategy they're going to use, then I watch him go out and dominate.
I don't know if anybody heard Byron Scott's comment, but it was to the effect that any team with Shaq would likely make the finals. That's a pretty good compliment from a guy who played with a couple of decent 'ballers in Magic and Kareem. |

West, Baylor and Wilt were not together for very long, and when they were, they won. Mostly it was West and Baylor's Lakers in the finals against the Celtics, and those Celts had too much going on with Cousy, Havlicek, Russell and the rest.

That was just too easy. It's series like this one that make me wish they did away with the conference seedings and went with a 16-team playoff, as the NHL used to do before they went to this poor conference system too.
I think basketball and hockey could both use such a format, and it would help cut down on the number of unbalanced finals that we seem to see on such a regular basis. On the topic of the series, congrats to the Lakers, and also to Shaq. For a guy who seems to be under constant criticism, he does pretty well. |
