Default Great Finish

Who had the best BA of anyone in the last year of his career (with enough PA to qualify)?

Good job BB.

What's interesting is that Shoeless also has the record for the best BA in a rookie season. First and last!

Which Jackson? It couldn't be Reggie, since he had only .220 in 1987.

I spoke way too soon, didn't catch the "poor" drift.

Shoeless batted .382 in 1920, and he was 3rd. His best BA was .408 in 1911 (571 AB's). He only batted .130 in his 1908 rook year (only 23 AB's), so am I misunderstanding the question?

23 ABs doesn't count as a season, so it wasn't his rookie season.

As with the Piazza post in the NDF draft, I'm getting too "retentive" in counting these seasons. I'll need to add some logic the next time.

What about the BA? He was 3rd w/.382 so wouldn't that make it someone else? I feel I'm missing something but not knowing what it is.

Shoeless hit .382 in his final season. Nobody esle hit that high in their final year.

The question wasn't who won the BA title in his last year

Disregard last sentence of last post. I'd misread it to mean who'd hit the highest BA in _that_ year, not _their_ final year. Gotcha!
