Looking Forward To Next Year
As Edgar Renteria tapped out to end the 2004 baseball season, the following teams started to run through my mind............
.........the 1977 Reds .........the 1979 Yankees .........the 1980 Pirates .........the 1985 Tigers .........the 1989 Dodgers .........the 1991 Reds .........the 1998 Marlins .........the 2003 Angels .........the 2004 Marlins............ and, right away, I started looking forward to the 2005 season......... but, of course, congrats to the 2004 World Champion Boston Red Sox. The Curse is over. The 86 year wait is over. That must feel great. Switching gears, and talking about not feeling great - - Tony LaRussa has now been swept in a World Series in both leagues. Is that a record? Not exactly one to be proud of, for sure. His 2004 Cardinals really got steam rolled in this series - like his 1990 A's were in that World Series. That will always stand out on his resume now to me.
