Default Minor Leagues

(My first question here - let me know if it's too easy or off topic.)

Name the first minor league team to go over 1,000,000 in attendance for a season.

I was wondering if you came up with that 1 on your own or saw the article in Baseball America's 20th anniversery issue. Oh well, it doesn't matter, it's a good question and keep trying to stump us.

Very close but not quite there Steve.

Nope - I didn't look that one up, but my knowledge just about as illgotten. Just so happens I attended many games of that team in the year they did it, and the race to the record was a really big deal. Hard to forget if you lived through it.

Getting colder.

You had the city right the first time, just not the team name. Although - you did name the ML team they were affiliated with.

(I guess we can stop this exercise. They were the Louisville Redbirds)

Redbirds, Cards, what the hey?

I do remember when they broke it - - I was younger then, natch, but very impressed by the feat - - 'nough so that it stuck with me all these years. It did get some national play.
