Exclamation The Book

Here's a preview for my friends here............

Ever since there has been a professional game, baseball fans have enjoyed debating comparisons of one player to another – both contemporaries and players across various eras in the sport’s history. My book looks to add to those debates.

However, rather than focus on the traditional “Who’s better?” arguments (such as “Mantle or Mays?” or “Ruth or Aaron?”) my book aims to take on the particular cases of “Which players were the same?”

Unique baseball metrics - apart from those common and conventional baseball statistics that one would typically see on the back of a player’s bubble gum card - are used to analyze career performance. And, my book gives consideration to relativity when comparing statistics of baseball players from different eras in the game.

Which baseball all-time greats were the same in terms of their relative performance? Who are the recently retired players that match-up to the stars of baseball’s past? What players not in the Baseball Hall of Fame measure up to those already in the Hall? My book aims to provide these answers and more.

It's still looking somewhat OK for a May 2005 release. Does this sound like a book that you would be interested in?

I've been going to games since August 8, 1973....and on August 22, 2004, finally, a foul ball came my way. I had to reach for it, and it deflected off the tip of my right index finger. Shoot, if I was only 4 inches taller!

There are many, many, "non-Yankee" item in the book. But, I have to share that, where there was a place to share a Yankee-fan item, it was included. It's an honest book - and, since I am a Yankees fan, it would not have been honest to hide that.

And, FWIW, not everything "Yankees" in the books is in favor of them - and, there are many "anti-Yankees" items (such as Sox and Mets players) where they get favorable analysis.

It sounds like a great book. If well written, would be worth the read. My own opinion, for example, is Sam Crawford = Al Kaline, which is hotly disputed by my (misguided) friend Shawn Weaver. And Nap Lajoie is like Cal Ripken

That's okay

Those were just examples of the kinds of things that interest me. I have never made a study - now I may not have to!

I'll buy it if it comes out in May, or lobby for a birthday gift if it gets delayed until June. From your end, I guess that counts as a buy either way.

I didn't vote. I am in the maybe category, but not because of price. For some reason or other I am simply burned out on reading books.

Thanks Boomer.

FWIW, one of my goals was to make this book the type of read that you can pick up at anytime and begin reading at any page – and there will be no understanding penalty if you allow for extended gaps between readings.

I offer that in case it helps with the purchasing decision with respect to being burnt on reading.

Even if I wasn't interested in the topic, I'd probably get a copy just to support Steve

Thanks guys.
Actually, sales help in more ways than one.
Besides the royalities, if I sell enough copies, the printer that I am using for self-publishing would consider releasing the book in a more mainstream manner. That would be a nice thing.
