Thumbs up Soccer Yearbook 2003-4

DK Soccer Yearbook 2003-4: The Complete Guide to the World Game by David Goldblatt.

I'd never heard of it till it casually caught my eye at a local borders. Just had to flip through it a little to shell out the 30 bucks for it.

It covers all games of the past season, per country (national team and clubs), and includes info on the leagues, history, etc...apparently this is its second year of publication, so there are some growing pains - i was able to find a grotesque geographical error in the Brasil section quickly, but they do encourage people to provide feedback for improvement/corrections.

Imitating Rob Neyer:

Page 23 has highlights of the FA Cup final between Arsenal and Southampton, including a diagram of how the game-winning goal was scored.

Page 92-3: Coventry City was originated from a Singers Cycle factory

Page 124: Only one of the 152 foreign players in Scotland is Asian.

Page 163: Ajak partially floated on Amsterdam Stock Exchange in 1998

Page 263: The main game between Turin teams is 'Il derby della Mole' between Juventus and Torino. Juve has 45 wins, Torino 28, and 27 draws in Serie A matches.

Page 339: Mexico beat Brazil 1-0 in the first round of the 2001 Copa America

Page 427: The 2002 league champion in Mauritania was FC Nouadhibou.

Page 447: 5 out of the last 6 Asian Cup Winners Cup champions have come from Saudi Arabia

Page 498: The richest Brasilian club in 2000 was Flamengo. They ranked 34th in the world (and 2nd to Boca Juniors outside of Europe).

Page 501: The current largest stadium in the world is in Calcutta, India.
