To all in the draft - what time period should we use as our "closed for the holidays" period. Also, for those who fall outside the block, should we just skip their turn and make it up at the end?

But I would NOT object to a draft lock down until Sunday. I have been very prompt with all my selection ( my family feels overly so). If not, Net you will have my pick 6 deep Wed. Should it be deeper due to my 2 quick picks almost in a row?

My suggestion is that if someone's got no life like myself and feels like posting their pick on Thanksgiving (who's the turkey on that one?), then then let them make their picks.
Instead of saying who's on board (and hopefully, after the gobbledygook is done), who's on deck, you can make the order as such: Person A Person B Person C Person D etc. From that list, if people want to make their draft, they simply look at the list. If the person before them has made their pick (presuming the player conforms to the 154-game at their position in the MLB rule and hasn't been picked by anyone else), then the next person should be able to pick w/o any prompting by yourself. In this way, there's no obligation for anyone to make a pick, yet if people decide to sneak away from the familiy and all the sliced bird w/gravy, corn muffins, stuffing, egg nog, Uncle Fred and Aunt Mabel, that strange 3rd cuz who can't quite remember your name, I say let 'em pick away, with a slice of turkey wings dripping in sauce to make the keyboard non-working. |

Seems I gave a few people the wrong read on this - sorry.
I'm talking about the end of the year - the period around 12/23 to 1/3. Not Thanksgiving. We are not shutting down the draft for Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is one day. The 48 hour rule covers that nicely.

OK - no one is really jumping in on this one - so, as Draft Moderator, I will make the call.
The draft will be "on hold" from 8 PM, 12/21/01 until 9 AM 1/3/02. Anyone who has something that will cause them to miss time prior to 12/21 will be handled the same as any other vacation (etc.) issue has been handled so far in the draft. (See ChrisCary's 5th round pick - missed to illness.) We will skip your turn and you can make up the pick at the end of the draft. For those who will be home and will miss the "action" - use the time off to work on your picks once we pick up again. It's going to get harder once we reach Round 10 - for sure. Any questions? State them here - thanks.

No questions...sounds like a good plan to me!!
sorry I didn't answer this sooner -- I am going to be away for New Year's (New Year's Eve is my birthday -- woo hoo!! ) in a secluded cabin in the woods...where we bring in a TV for football games but there is no phone, and definitely no internet service!! Just lots of food and alchohol -- like a Big Chill thing! But I will be back by the 3rd... thanks Steve...and I promise, if my turn is early on the 3rd, my pick will be ready!! ![]()

Ok. This is fine. I am on vacation (out of the country and also not internet-abilized 12/15 - 12/22. If both my picks come up between 12/14 and 12/21, please don't bother start the 96 hour timer for me. I'll have no way of knowing after 12/14 that I'm on the clock. I'll figure it all out when I (we) get back. I would like to say this applies to Buzz since to the best of my knowledge a laptop is not accompanying either one of this on this trip, but he'll have to speak up if his plan is different. There will be a lot of on our vacay if he's planning to travel with anything other than some summer clothes and his wife!!Happy t-day! Mex ![]() |

I'm out of town until 1/4, but unless it's my turn, the lockdown schedule should be fine.
I don't want to jinx it, but we might be done by then; if not, we'll be awfully close. |

As I write this, there are 27 picks left in the draft with 13 days left to the lock-down. Whadda say ya'll - - can we get this done before 12/21 @ 8 PM?
We're already into our 10th week of drafting. ![]() Anyone going away before 12/21, please consider giving me a list from which to pick for you. Thanks!

With Mex and I leaving next Saturday for a week, the draft may not be over before the lcok down. We should be shooting to get it done this week. Shouldn't be hard at this point, though.
