Will - Is there a medical, physical, psychological reason behind things like the Sasser Tap? Is it OCD? In any event, is there medical, physical, psychological way that's proven to treat it?
Maybe this could be a BP feature? OCP and Baseball

I'd just be guessing, but there's definitely something of a mental component to anything from the Sasser Tap to Steve Blass Disease to Steve Sax Syndrome.
I should get a sports shrink on BPR. Good idea!

Will: Can't think of the guys name, but the guy who worked with John Smoltz was a pretty compelling interview. I can't remember where I've heard him?... maybe MLB radio or Espn radio. Smoltz never had 'Steve Blass disease,' but a lot of people forget that he was a major headcase in the early '90's.

Smoltz is STILL a headcase
![]() Only Cleveland lists a Director of Psychological Services ... which is interesting that there's one.

I'm pretty sure that I remember the Mets hiring a team psychiatrist about a couple of years ago and that gave the WFAN callers an excuse (at least to them) to make fun of the team for at least a day.

I'm pretty sure that the Braves had Mark Wohlers working with a shrink back when he first lost his control.
