I found that that the KC A's used 24 players in a game v. the Angels on 9/8/65. Not sure if that's the record? But, it also was a 13 inn. game.

I found a 18-inning game where the Cubs used 27 players (9/2-3/86 v. Astros). It took two days, this was before Wrigley had lights.
Oddly enough, Maddux, who started for the Braves last night, was the last (and losing) pitcher in the game where the Cubs used 27. It was Maddux' rookie season. A Billy Hatcher HR did him in. |
