Refinancing

For those of you homeowners - we are at incredibly low interest rates on home loans (10/15/30 year fixed, and I guess adjustable although I havent looked). If you havent refinanced, DO IT. No, I'm not a mortgage company guy, I teach college, but this is an unprecedented time. Check it out. I'm about to remove 20% of the life of my loan and 15% of the monthly payment amount at the same time.

I just refied for the second time in six months. I never would have done it if my broker did not give me a credit for all of the costs. Its amazing, I get a half point off without paying for anything. When I got my loan in 1997 for 7.25 for 30, I thought it was "gold Jerry, that's gold Jerry" (cue up Seinfeld.) Knowing my parents never got a loan below 7 the past 25 years, I thought anything near 7 was great. Now I'm sitting at 6.375 for 30 and I can't believe it.

Did it about a year ago.
It's about the only perk of a really crappy market.
