Default Lakers-Nets in the Finals

Since the Lakers seem an overwhelming favorite, I wanted to know how people feel about the Nets' chances.

Personally, I don't think New Jersey has any real shot. The Lakers seem too strong and too deep, not to mention the fact that they know how to win.

I am rooting for the Nets because I HATE THE LAKERS. Enough said. I was going to root for the Kings but Chris Webber and Suckramento choked. While I'm rooting for the Nets, David Stern has already made arrangements to give the Lakers a three-peat(tm) so it's just going to be the same ol' bulls***.

the lake show looks pretty strong, but i'll be rooting for the nets (when i have nothing vested in a game, i always root for the underdog).

i just think a team that bumps around inside will beat a team that's outside shot-driven in a 7 game series every time.... [oh yeah, and there's kobe too! ]

I'm completely wrung out. Sacramento took the Lakers to the limit in this past series.
I don't think the Nets have an answer for Shaq. And now that Fox , Fisher , and Horry have found their shots, it's a walk.
Lakers in 5 .
If I'm wrong I'll have my crow broiled with baby potatoes and carrots.

Skip, you're right - that was very cliched. To avoid that from now on, I'm just going to have to give 110% every time, and let the chips fall where they may.

Just because it's cliche doesn't mean it isn't true. Everyone on the Kings besides Bibby just disappeared in the final minutes and overtime, while the Lakers picked it up. Maybe this will happen to the Nets, maybe it won't. But I can practically guarantee you it won't happen to the Lakers. If they lose, it won't be because Shaq throws the ball away like a hot potato every time he gets in the second half, or because Kobe can't find the rim with his jumpshot.

I've become somewhat intrigued by the Nets and will pull for them in their underdog role. I think the Lakers will and should win though.

I'm pulling for the Nets since I can't stand the Lakers. I thought Sacremento should have won their series, but just didn't seem able to keep their leads. If I had to put money on the series, LA in 6, but I hope to see the Nets shock everyone.

To put a number on it, I'll say Lakers in 4.

On Friday, before I left work, someone (a Nets fan) asked me who I thought was going to win the Championship, the Kings or the Nets. When I protested (being the good Lakers fan that I am), he squabbled, saying the Lakers were done. Now I have to go make fun of him at lunch and see if he'll bet on his Nets. He may go to one of the finals games, probably taking a ride on his bandwagon.

(I'm a Lakers fan by birth. My grandfather played for them in the early 50s in Minneapolis.)

Lakers in 5. Their confidence is very high and Phil Jackson is an excellent motivator. The Nets have put up a great run, but they'll have problems matching up with Shaq. Shaq hitting free throws. What will the world come to next?

Who's your grand-daddy?

Shaq actually does hit free throws pretty well in the clutch, has done so since LSU. I hate Shaquille O'Neal, but only because you can't stop him. At least O'Neal doesn't put up ill-advised threes...
