Talking Pedro Martinez' Hair In 2004

Five weeks ago, Jerry Crasnick wrote in his ESPN.com column:

Quote:
Pedro Martinez's new 'do, some Sox-watchers have noted, makes him look like Randy Watson, the lead singer in the band Sexual Chocolate in "Coming to America."

I just noticed this in the recent print edition of Baseball America, where they recycle the ESPN features of Crasnick, Gammons, etc.

I laughed out loud, yes, a true "LOL," when I read this line this morning.

FWIW, "Coming to America" is in the same category as "Trading Places" in terms of movies that I still laugh at, when I see them, no matter how many times I see them.

John Landis is incredible.

Animal House, Trading Places, Coming To America........

Wow, you know, if you order them like this:

Coming To America, Animal House, Trading Places

You just might have the "Pedro Martinez Red Sox Story" with the pulse points of 1998, 2004, and 2005........

Man, this is baseball. You gotta stop thinking. Just have fun.
- Benny "The Jet" Rodriguez, in The Sandlot

I've been going to games since August 8, 1973....and on August 22, 2004, finally, a foul ball came my way. I had to reach for it, and it deflected off the tip of my right index finger. Shoot, if I was only 4 inches taller!

Have you read The Baseball Same Game?

Unfortunately for Landis he also has "Blues Brothers 2000" on his resume.

And "The Stupids"
And "Oscar"

Granted, his early work helps cover that for him.
