Pinch-ran and scored a run in their only ML game?

Better than doing nothing, I guess.

Actually, in their only appearance - - easy work, if you can get it.

Was Lee's software involved in finding these names?

Of course - - 'tho it started with an obit that I just read on Schmulbach. That led the my curious thought - how many like him?

At least they made it to the show. How many guys spend years in the minors & fizzle out in AA or AAA. I tip my cap to anyone who made it, whether they are Garth Mann or Cal Ripken.

Agreed Cubs Fan - - there's something like only 15, 000 people that have ever worn a MLB uniform in the last 125 years. It's a very select group.

Perhaps we can exclude Witasick and Mr. Baseball himself, who didn't quite pass the Mendoza line.

Default I love "The Euk"!!!

The funny thing about Eucker is that he may be actually inducted into the hall within the next year or two, and Harry Doyle himself will be very deserving of the induction. He will undoubtedly be one of the next winners of the Ford Frick award for broadcasters. Other winners include Ernie Harwell, Harry Caray & Mel Allen.

I live in the Twin Cities & we get Brewers games over the air from a small town station in Hudson, Wisc.(about 20 minutes from downtown St. Paul). Anyone who does not live within the listening range of the Brewers, tune in a game on the internet, the man is a treasure as an announcer. The Brewers broadcasts reach a surprisingly large area including the entire state of Wisconsin & parts of Minnesota, Michigan(the entire U.P. & parts of western Michigan), Illinois(including the whole Chicagoland area), Indiana & Iowa.

CF, what's the link to that over the web? I may just tune in sometime?

As to Euk, I remember him being on some "Match Game" type of game show where the "C List" celebs are seen. He was funny, truly enjoyed his self-efacing art of his being a lousy hitter. it's like he did for the everyman Tom Arnold type that few could.

Let's hope that Skippy doesn't zap this thread if it steers a might clear of its intended purposes.

There was a time when you could go right to WTMJ's web sight & tune in a Brew game, but as we all know MLB is all about increasing revenue streams and now you have pay $9.95 (at least for 2001 you did, we will see about 2002 in April) to tune into the radio broadcasts on the internet. The upside was that every game was broadcast, home & away.

I liken $9.95 radio broadcast to the $4.95 tater skins w/bacon. Don't charge me f/something I was throwing away or enjoyed for free before this, then spice it up.

One of the better jazz stationslets you listen live to their broadcast for people who've moved out of the area. They're member-supported so I guess they get extra revenue that way.

If MLB starts charging for everything, will it still be fun? No way! I'm returning a small boombox radio since its AM section is lousy, so I can't listen to FAN (660AM (WNBC)) or Sterling & Kay (770AM (WABC)), both in NYC. S&K travel to road games and they were my only bearable respite during the WS, though it didn't help much in the end.

Bad enough you pay $6.75 for a beer, $4 for a dog, peanuts, ice cream bar, bottled water (which costs $1.50 from street vendors anywhere else) when at YS. If that's how bad it gets, I'm unsubtly reminded just who's paying all the players' fancy fees and exorbitant lifestyles I'll be reading about. I'll have to change Tom Hanks' "There's no crying in baseball" motto.

Skip, please forgive us this just once.
