Welcome to the forum!
Actually, this should not be in UTK - so, I'll move it to PA&S. See the AM I POSTING CORRECTLY link in my sig for more.

Quinn? Dunno - - but, we have a few KC guys here that I'm sure will add something soon.

Quinn

Mark "Kung Fu" Quinn is probably at least a week away. The return of Knoblauch neatly coincides with about how long they'll look at Knobs and wait for Quinn. Word from inside KC is that Quinn has managed to get on Tony Pena's bad side quickly and is probably staring a non-tender in the eye.

Quinn for the second year in a row has spent most of his time on the DL. He seems to take forever to recover from an injury also.

Once highly thought of, Quinn could probably be had for the price of a plane ticket. I don't see him getting any playing time when he gets back unless Sweeney stays injured (a real possibility). No way on earth Quinn gets any playing time at the expense of Ibanez or Beltran. That leaves him fighting for time with Guiel, Tucker and Knoblauch.

Quinn was also in Muser's doghouse for various misdemeanors.

Quinn's biggest problem seems to be that he is un-coachable. Even the late great Tony Muser was horrified at his walk totals. I'm not very familiar with the hitting coaches in other organizations, but is there one out there that could do something with the mighty Quinn? I know there are teams that could use an outfielder, and when he's healthy he can be quite productive despite his walk totals. He will get the boot for various incidents unknown that have occurred in the clubhouse (a la Jeremy Giambi). I think his tenure with KC will end about as quickly as Chuck Knoblauch. Maybe an attitude adjustment and a different hitting coach are all it would take.

was quinn really highly thought of, outside the KC circles (neyer, rany, etc?). i don't remember of many others calling him an exciting young player, though my memory might be failing me...
how did he rank in baseball america, minor league scouting notebooks, etc?

agreed, but there's hometown bias - R&R wrote a lot on Quinn because he was one of kc's most interesting prospects... same as people do with those on their team (either the "i watch him play everyday" argument or the "he's the best we have so he must be good" argument).
but my question is did the baseball world outside kc think highly of quinn? i don't recall an answer either way..

I saw Quinn play in the low minors and he was head and shoulders above the average player down there. I thought he was going to be a star. But I guess it proves that except for a select few (Vlad, Soriano) you can't swing at everything. The pitchers evetually get smart.
