In a 5x5 league I have been offered Aaron Boone if I give up Rafael Palmiero. I currently have Mark Ellis as my middle infielder and I have Fred McGriff on the Bench to replace Palmiero. Good trade or no?

I would do it.

Aaron Boone and McGriff
v.
Rafael Palmiero and Mark Ellis
all depends how much you like Boone.
personally, I would stay with Ellis and Raffy.
McGriff plays in a pitchers park, will not get DH ABs.
You could end up losing offense in this deal.

Unless you think you could use Boone's positional flexibility (I'm guessing he's 2b/3b eligible), I wouldn't do it. Even if I did need the multiposition player, I still might not. What position will Boone be playing? Ellis's? I definitely wouldn't do it. I don't think that Boone will end up putting up numbers so much better than Ellis', that you could justify the decline from Raffy to Fred.

I believe that Mark Ellis could be special.
I believe that Aaron Boone is Bob Boone's son.

if you're only gonna use him as a MIF, no. If he's eligible at SS (he is in some leagues) and is an upgrade over your current SS, then maybe

Boone is eligible at SS/3B/2b. If he has a season close to last year then it is probably worth it for me. Funny that people want Aaron over Bret now.

Boone is valuable in fantasy leagues because of his combination of HR and SB. I wouldn't do it. Ellis won't steal that much.

i guess it depends on the type of league... for 5x5 i guess it would make sense...but i tend to avoid those leagues :p

This has turned out to be a pretty good trade for me. Boone is not only stealing bases but hitting home runs too.
