Just joined the forum after being pointed to it from one of my many baseball email lists.
My user name is actually the name of my fantasy baseball team. I haven't won the league since 1997, so I'm on a long losing streak.
I followed the Indians in the 1970's and 1980's when nobody went to see the games. It's going to be sort of fun to be able to just walk up to the gate on game day and buy a ticket. I follow a number of teams though because I like certain players. Thank goodness for the MLB game package on my cable...
Just call me LL for short!
:)

Hey, LL! I went to old Municipal Stadium once in 1987 -- I and, oh, I dunno, five or six thousand others watched the team that SI had picked to win the East that season.

Thank goodness for the ILL people. That's how I get most of what I read.

I had no idea there were so many fellow librarians on here. I'm a systems librarian at a medical library.

So do I, but only if it's something I'll refer back to often - like Win Shares, cookbooks or movie guides.
For fiction, I can't stomach paying $25 for a book that I'll read once before letting it gather dust on the shelf. At least, not when I can get it for free here.

The Greensboro Public Library keeps leaving messages on my machine to return their damn books-on-tape. 8 hour drives to Cleveland through mountains where the only radio we get is either hellfire preachin' or snake charmin' just NEEDS a good book on tape to pass the time. I feel like a prisoner in my own home. I guess I should just return them...
Greetings from an ex-Clevelander living in NC! I too remember the old Cleveland Municipal days, deciding at the spur of the moment to go down and buy a ticket and sit behind the plate. Growing up and playing Little League on the Bedford Kiwanis team with a red Frank Duffy signed bat should tell you what "greats" I grew up with.

I volunteered in a library back in high school. Does that count? :-)
Welcome aboard, LL. As a fellow fan and rotisserian mired in futility, I welcome you.
