Hi everyone,

Sorry my first post (my team to win one series) was placed in the wrong category. I was just too excited about the site to read the rules!

My true love of the game started after I quit playing after high school. I guess there isn't much to love about the game when one is struggling to hit a good high school curve ball.

The more I learn about the history of the game the more passionate I become, and that is probably the reason I am so excited talking with you all. Here's a few facts about me:

Best moment in baseball: Hitting pivotal home run in double A stadium during state tournament in 1988.

Baseball claim to fame: Played on probably one of the greatest offensive high school teams in history. Team featured current big leaguers Tyler Houston and Doug Mirabelli, as well as "cup of coffee" Steve Rodriguez and Gregg Martinez. Gregg Maddux played there a couple years before me.

Favorite players in my time: Will Clark, Jim Edmonds, Manny Ramirez.

Mickey or Willie? #7

I reside in south Louisiana, and cant wait to see Fenway!

Welcome! welcome! welcome!

I hope you enjoy Fenway when you go. Take the tour! Well worth it. I am a big Manny fan myself. His defense is hugely underrated. I once saw him riffel trow so hard from left field that it airmailed over Varitek's head and into the net. Never in all my years behind the plate and watching games on tv, have I seen such a thing. If he could harness that power.......WOW!!! Never mind a threat for the triple crown. Imagine that! Not since the days of Yaz. He may even shatter Gerhig slammer records too. Hard not to get excited!

Stick around the shrine. I learn something everytime I log on. Baseball is played and relived 365 days a year!

Look forward to your next post.

BTW, has Belli always had such a big hole in his swing would an rowing oar help?

Welcome, chainlink. We'll try not to "fence" you in.

What? Oh, sorry. They tell me not to use the really bad puns with the new guys.

I was about the post my "Icebreaker" and noticed that you put Will Clark as a favorite of your time.

That makes sense being that he was local to LA.

Somehow he managed to become my faorite player growing up too.

Thanks for all the welcome! I love this place. I can now spew all of my Mickey Mantle biases at people who can actually debate them!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mirabelli does seem to have a hole in his swing, at least at the big league level.

My fondest memory of Mirabelli was in high school. About 10 scouts were at a game to see Tyler Houston, and Mirabelli hit 4 home runs. In Sports Illustrated a short time later, one of the scouts mentioned that "that kid will get drafted too......."

Question: Is there a way to reply directly to people who respond to threads, or do all messages just get posted in sequence here.

Thanks

They're time stamped, and appear in that order - - best to use the QUOTE feature if you want to address something/one directly. Like I have done here.

Links: I quote then delete around all the stuff I don't want.

Back when Tek went down after that amazing catch.....my cousin and I were really checking out Belli. He is a great catcher. His bat has some bop but there is a huge hole.

I like him as a backup. Love him on my team! Still want to get him an oar.

I liked Hatti's bat but that boy could not catch! Read some back pages on those rants if you have the stomach for it.

Sounds like you had some great high school memories. :D
