In BBA, whenever they do a Prospect Bio, it always says "Signed By" with the scouts name.
I find these interesting - only because of the names - - some are ex-players, like Mitch Webster, and some are people's dad's, like Jorge Posada Sr.
But, that's about it - for me - - in terms of importance.
I mean, if a player is selected in the draft, is there any "big deal" about who signed him? It's not like some "other" scout was trying to sign him as well and the scout who signed him should get credit for the sales job............your thoughts?

The scout is usually the guy who brought the team and player together. He sold the team on the player, and probably eased the way for the player to sign with the team at the "proper" price.
In the latter rounds, the role of the scout is probably greater because they're not "sure" things (not that there is EVER a sure thing in baseball drafts).

I think draft history, and the price of those taken ahead of you and behind you, drive the price more than any impact the scout has on the process.
I do think scouts should get the credit on a NDFA or a low rounder - - but, in "prospect reports," most of the time, these are guys who were drafted in he 1st few rounds.
Shoot, I could tell you who should be the 1st 60 picks in the draft. Anyone who reads BBA could. So, why does a scout get so much distinction for those picks?

Where do you think BBA gets their info, Steve?
Anything below the 2nd or 3rd round really is a scouts pick. Even some of the lower end of the first round. Only the top few are "slotted" IMHO.
