Coming on the heals of the Chicago night club fire came this event. Tragic, and unnecessary. Supposedly the building met the local fire standards. If so, a damning indictment of the local fire codes (and/or code enforcement).

Giant tragedy. Giant screw-up.

This is crushing for such a small state where so many people know so many other people (it really is a "close" state). There are no "7 degrees of Kevin Bacon" in the Ocean State. I can almost assure you that if a RI resident doesn't know someone who perished in the fire, they know someone who knows someone. It's that small.

What was chilling was the news footage of the fire spreading on stage - - - and the fact that the person who shot it got out.

Why did they where so many others didn't?

Also, they had to have exceeded the max number allowed in the building by fire code, no? If yes, then the club owner has to do time, IMHO.

That was so terrible. How awful! What a devastating loss to the town of West Warwick, RI. I can only imagine how difficult it must be for those families. Each survivor's story that comes out is just so amazing, they were lucky to get out.

Very tragic story. If the band didn't get permission to shoot off fireworks then they probably should be arrested.

More incredibly, I heard on the radio this morning that the band intends to continue their "tour" soon after replacing their lost band member......
