3) Yankees P Roger Clemens will make his start tonight.

4) A's RF Jermaine Dye suffered a broken fibula when he fouled a ball off his leg in yesterday's game. He's out for tonight's game and, if the A's advance, he will not be able to return for the rest of the postseason.

Dye hit .467 SLG, .346 OBA, .813 OPS, 12 RCAA, 102 RC, .562 OWP, 6.11 RC/G in 158 games 2001, while he hit much better after being traded to the A's (.547 SLG, .366 OBA, .913 OPS, 15 RCAA, 47 RC, .675 OWP, 7.29 RC/G in 61 games). He has a .823 lifetime OPS, compared to his league average of .777 and RF average of .820, 24 RCAA and 6 RCAP.

5) The Twins claimed 3B Casey Blake off waivers from the Orioles. Previously, the Orioles had claimed him off waivers from the Twins.

6) Braves C Javier Lopez was able to catch in the bullpen for 20 minutes yesterday, and took batting practice again, but a decision hasn't been made yet on whether he can play in the NLCS. Lopez says "I can hit with no problem, and I can catch. But I have trouble blocking pitches and getting up to throw. I just hope the Braves go with three catchers on the roster, so if I do play, we'll have [Paul] Bako or Eddie [Perez] just in case something happens."

Lopez hit .425 SLG, .322 OBA, .747 OPS, -9 RCAA, 59 RC, .438 OWP, 4.70 RC/G in 128 games in 2001. Lopez has a .825 career OPS, compared to his league average of .773 and C average of .737, 11 RCAA and 71 RCAP.

7) The Houston Chronicle reports the Astros won't exercise P Doug Brocail's $2 million option, but they are interested in re-signing him.

Brocail, 34, missed the entire 2001 season, after having Tommy John surgery. He was working on a streak of 4 consecutive years with a positive RSAA and has a career 3.87 ERA, compared to his league average of 4.41, and 28 RSAA.
