Reggie - 1 = Wee Willie - 18 = Mickey - 9 = Hough + 36 = Ott - 7 = a famous number in pop TV history. What's the number and how do you get there?

Skip, the way you have written this means all the items between the "=" signs are equal. Is that what you mean? E.G, you are saying that Reggie - 1 = Wee Willie -18.... etc.
Yes, all things are equal.
I just realized Steve used this same number in a trivia question recently, and in a similar way. It must have stuck in my subconscious.

Wait...nix on that - and since I answered the original question, I'll leave this one open. Only the logical thing to do.

The stats correspond to:
Reggie Jackson's RBI's
Willie Keeler's Runs
Mickey Mantle's Strikeouts
Charlie Hough's Walks
and Mel Ott's Walks
And they all equal Pinky Whitney's hit total, 1701. :) Of course, it would be highly illogical to not know where it really does come from, some Star Trek thing.
(Of course, I know the Pinky Whitney thing from a past trivia question. :))
"Except for one television network, we have found intelligent life everywhere in the galaxy..."
Correct of course. Next time I get a brainstorm for a trivia question, I'll just assume that for me the term brainstorm is equivalent to (subconscious) plagiarism/braincramp for normal humans.
 at myself.
