I know that RCAA is the difference between a player's RC total and the total for an average player who used the same amount of his team's outs.

But, to the masses, when you see a crooked number next to Almonte and a zero next to O'Neill, they think "Almonte is better than O'Neill? How can this be?"

Would multiplying the RCAA by something, say PA divided by a 1000, yeild a more user friendly number? Maybe PA divided by the league leaguer total of PA as a multipler? I know that it wouldn't help with those whose RCAA is zero...........just thinking quickly out loud.

Interesting about the Giants - how big of a % was Bonds in those RCAP figures?

Bonds's impact was huge.

I'm also in favor of a federal law prohibiting stats from being calculated as a percentage of the team's totals. It tells us nothing. It tells us that if Bonds's teammates were better, then Bonds's figure in that area would go down, if they were worse, his figure would go up.

Just to make up some numbers, let's say Bonds's figure was 90% of the team's total. If you replace Aurilia with Ordonez, maybe Bonds's figure goes to 125%. Does that makes Bonds better than he would be with a 90% figure? If so, why should it? Similarly, if you replace Aurilia with Rodriguez, maybe Bonds's figure goes to 75%. Does that makes Bonds any lesser of a player than he would be with a 90% figure. If so, why should it?
