When was the last game in which uniformed members of the contesting teams functioned as umpires for a ML game?

Twins v. Blue Jays, August 1979, I believe the 5th. I've asked the question about the uniformed people before. :)

Do I understand the question correctly? Does this really mean that some of the Twins & Jays were serving as umps? How could anyone expect they would be fair and objective?

What are some of the details?

On 8-25-78 for some reason the umpires weren't available (strike???). The game between the Twins and Blue Jays was umpired by two amateurs and a coach from the Twins and a coach from the Blue Jays.

From what I recall about my asking about the coaches, John Donaldson and Don "Def" Leppert, not all of the replacement umpires who were going to work that game showed up so they had to replace them.
