Who is the only player to get a rookie of the year vote in his first and only major league season?

How about Shooty Babitt for the A's in 1981?

Yep. I just like saying Shooty Babitt. :)
That's how bad the rookie class was in 1981 when a guy like Babitt gets votes for ROY.

Mack Neal "Shooty" Babitt was the opening day 2B for the A's in the strike year. He hit somewhat averagely, fielded averagely, lost his job to Dave McKay in September on a fulltime basis (who is actually more average than Shooty), and wasn't on a postseason roster. Still it got a ROY vote. :) He's now a scout for the A's.
Just so ya know.
