Who was the first player to take a pay cut from arbitration in a case which they lost?

I'll try and make myself happy by throwing you guys a bone...
This guy had every reason to get his pay cut, he never played for the team that cut his salary. He spent that year on the DL for the World Champions and was re-acquired by the team that they acquired him from during the offseason, where 3 years prior as a rookie he matched his career average in his only season as a regular. He was traded from the team that re-acquired in the off-season during the following season.
*whew*, I hope that worked.

If not, remember, this is all just for fun! Try another clue and have fun with it.

I'll make it easier, the guy that took the first pay cut in arbitration history was one of the first guys to take arbitration in the first place. Still a long way to go before I give it away but you might at least put the years together now, assuming I haven't been to clumsy with putting them together. :)
