Upon reading this one - it's a mixed bag. A little news, sports, and dare I say - entertainment.
Hockey Coach Rips Out Tongue of Rival Mascot (http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&cid=573&ncid=757&e=3&u=/nm/20030121/od_nm/mascot_dc)
The mascot "repeatedly taunted him" thereby forcing him to attack...now that doesn't sound like any mascot I know! (Insert sarcasm as needed).

Reminds me of the time a minor league hockey coach in the old IHL - Gene Ubracio, I think, went into the stands to pummel the Atlanta Knights mascot, Sir Slapshot!

I have a story about this coach, Craig MacTavish. I was visiting back in my hometown of London, Ontario one weekend during my undergrad days. A friend and I were downtown when a limo pulled up across the street and 3 guys hopped out. My friend looked over and asked me, "Is that MacTavish?" I looked, and it was him, not surprising really since it's also his hometown.
He and his buddies started walking through a parking lot when we decided to yell something. At first, I was going to yell something about drunk driving, since he spent some time in jail for an alcohol-related drving death, but I figured he'd be a little upset with that. So, since he was the last helmetless player in the league, I just yelled "Hey MacTavish!", and when he turned, I yelled, "Get a helmet, you 'expletive'". I thought he might find it funny, but instead he and his buddies decided to chase us. Anyway, we lost them in some back alleys, but it made for a pretty fun night.

Mactavish does seem to lose his temper quite often. I don't think this is super out of character for him. How can you be that mad at a mascot?

:D
Certainly, there was no alcohol involved on your end, either, eh?
