It's been 30 years, who's been the best at that position?

I'm biased towards Baines, but Edgar is the best DH ever.

Edgar over Baines and McRae. The other guys played the field more than they DH'd, and that puts them at positions, IMO. The only guy on this list I would take over Edgar is Molitor, and he was more a 3B to me.

Molitor is the first name that popped into my head.

Martinez.....Molitor..............Molitor on top.

I'm tempted to pick Don Baylor...but i won't today. Maybe if you ask me tomorrow......

Its Molitor for me for now.

But as Merv Rettenmund said about Don Baylor and his outfield abilites:

"He's our triple threat player. He can hit, run, and lob" :D

I could give love to any one of those guys, but as a Mariners fan, it's gotta be Edgar. I think of Molitor as the first player to legitimize the DH rule, but Edgar is the guy who personifies designated hitting, the purest one for sure.

It's Edgar although there were a few others such as Orlando Cepada and Willie Horton who had some great DH seasons

Well using a minimum 3000 PA's as an entry point to the list I will go with Edgar, the Big Hurt, and the home town guy McRae.

I picked Baines on career value; he had the longest career of any of these guys, and spent the most time at DH.

Edgar gets my nod on peak value.

The others were at their best when they were in the field. Including the Big Hurt.
