1) Alex Rodriguez became the 4th player to have 50+ HR and 200+ hits in a season.

Rodriguez joined Johnny Pesky and Derek Jeter as the only SS to have 3 seasons with 200+ hits.

2) Rod Carew resigned as Brewers hitting coach, effective at the end of the season.

3) Yankees P Orlando Hernandez may miss the Division Series. According to GM Brian Cashman, "I don't want to put odds on it, but the word certainly fits, he's questionable."

According to pitching coach Mel Stottlemyre, "He was a little disappointed in his work session [throwing before yesterday's game] that he didn't feel better. We didn't cut it short or anything, but the quality just wasn't as good as we need it."

MGR Joe Torre says Sterling Hitchcock would probably take Hernandez's spot, if he's not ready.

4) Mariners SS Carlos Guillen was released from the hospital. But, he's still going to miss the Division Series, with his status for the rest of the postseason still unknown.

5) Tim Raines and Tim Raines Jr. were both in the Orioles's lineup yesterday.

Raines Sr. went 0 for 4, with a RBI and 2 SO, while hitting 6th and playing LF. Raines Jr. went 1 for 4, with a run and a SO, while hitting 1st and playing CF.

They joined the Griffeys as the only father-son combination to play in the same game.

6) Twins 1B Doug Mientkiewicz will have a MRI on his sore right forearm today and expects to miss the final weekend of the season.

9) Redsox LF-DH Manny Ramirez has missed the past 5 games, due to a sore left wrist.

10) Indians C Eddie Taubensee left yesterday's game, due to lower back spasms.

2) Diamondbacks C Damian Miller expects to return to action today, after he felt no discomfort in his rotator cuff.

3) According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, if John Smoltz returns to the Braves next year, it will be in the closer's role. Smoltz will be a free agent and has said that, while he would like to return, he doesn't expect the team to come up with the money to keep him.

4) If Diamondbacks P Albie Lopez gets the loss tonight, when starts against the Dodgers, he will become a 20 game loser. Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks are expected to name Miguel Batista as their 3rd starter for the playoffs, if they make it, instead of Lopez.
