The scary 24/7 stat - - in 2002: The NDF averaged a post just about every 6 minutes.

Round the clock, no stops, all the time, a new post every six minutes.

More the reason to be a frequent visitor! :)

Kudos to Steve for building and maintaining the best baseball discussion site around.

And, if Smed hadn't been MIA for most of December, it would have been a post every five minutes!

It's been a good year.

So, there's only thing left to do--let's make next year even better.

Thanks, Steve - may 2003 be a healthy and happy year for you. In the immortals words of Spock (the Vulcan, not the pediatrician): "Live long and prosper"

Thanks guys!
I've said it before - and I'll keep saying it - because it's true: All I did was secure the software and the server space. This forum is great because of its members - all of you. Thanks for that!

And, of course, best wishes for the New Year!

You've underestimated your role.

Anyone can set up shop here on the internet. Anyone could secure software and server space.

If all it took were those two things, NetShrine's would be a dime a dozen. Our members would be scattered among numerous sites.

It really is a buyer's market in terms of merely finding an online forum.

I'll agree with you that what separates out NDF from the rest is our members. But, one has to ask why does NDF succeed where so many fail. So many set up shop, have a forum, even have lots of activity, but are really more of quantity over quality. They may consider themselves to be successes. Many others may consider them successes, due to the quantity. But, as long as they don't have the quality, I don't consider them to be a success.

So, why does NDF succeed in both the quantity and the quality departments? A lot of the credit has to go to you. You've set the tone. You've provided the atmosphere that it is condusive for everyone to return. You've played the biggest role in ensuring that quality must rule.

Sure, "all" you've done was set up the site. Just like "all" Madison did was be the Father of the Constitution.

Aw, shucks.....I still contend that a manager has to have the horses to be a winner! ;)

Thanks for the nice words. I'll still point towards ya'll for deserving the credit.

I agree with that ... in baseball.

In baseball, the players are bound to play for the manager. You got to play for the manger of the team you've got a contract for.

But, each of our members is, at least in theory, a free agent every single day. So, there has to be a reason why, in practice, we're not acting that way.

Hey, I need at least one to offset the dozen or so "the czar pig dictator must die" threads! ;)

I personally believe that anyone truly qualifying for the title "czar pig dictator" probably should die ... but since I'm the only one voting in my own little poll, you do not qualify for death. I'm sure you're relieved, but just in case you feel slighted and kind of enjoy being considered a cpd ... feel free to ban me! :loud: :D

Point being ... ups and downs, ins and outs, baseball and BS, this is still a great site and I am happy to be here. But, if all this happy talk goes to your head Max, I'll enter the "Who's Max gonna be next poll" with Simon bar Sinister or Big Head Fred.

And my head is so used to being empty, it rejects any attempt by anything to do to it.:naughty:

An excellent year! The baseball talk on this site is amazing. Intelligent discussion is hard to find and when you find it you hold onto it for as long as you can.

I think we should celebrate!

I found this great place in TN. Wonder if they have them in NJ? Is NJ considered South? Anyways........do you have Wafflehouse? I love that place!!! They serve anything you want with a porkchop......how cool is that!

I say we have a Netshrine convention on the NJ turnpike at a Wafflehouse! What do you say?

I ran it by my husband.......he said who would be nuts enough to something like that......I told him baseball people!:p

Last year, we had a party, and hardly anyone showed. Would this year be different?

Maybe we should have a virtual party this year. We could encourage everyone who is able to be on at one time.

I was joking but.......if you wanted to do lunch off the garden state parkway.....I don't see why not?

I would show up.......can we make it in the spring? There is a lot of snow here!!!:D

I could maybe round up some New Englanders and pack them in the SUV if Satch will behave.;)
