Will any of these be a player in 2003 who their old team will say "Damn, we should have kept him!"

I suspect Robert Fick is the best pick, in the long run, although if I were a GM looking to fill holes on the cheap, Singleton, Frankie Cat, and Cruz, Jr. come to mind.

If Scheurholz signed three of these players, Chipper would go back to 3B, Sheffield would move to 1B, and the Braves would win the pennant with everyone wondering how they did it.

I think Fick is in both a lousy park and a lousy organization, and these two factors have him messed up. It may take a year to get him sorted out, but I think he has the biggest upside of all these guys, although it may not show until 2004.

How about Kerry Ligtenberg - someone could definitely use him in the pen.

I'll vote for Fick, with Cruz second. All of these guys can play.

Cruz jr. maybe I am just holding on to the promise of what could have been, but i think he can still play.

Cruz has bounced back before, and is still young. He's not going to be the mega-star people thought he would once become, but he well may be a player that is just inconsistent from year to year. There are guys like that; George Scott and Mickey Vernon come to mind.

I think Cruz jr is the most likely to haunt their old team (hopefully as an Oriole). Fick would be my second choice

Picked Junior Cruz...I was surprised they didn't keep him because I have no idea who they have to replace him.

Of course, he chose a bad time to be non-tendered, because the Mariners don't have a damn spot available for him. :) As a Mariner fan, I want him back, I still think he kicks ass.

i don't think any of these players will come back to haunt their old teams. they may find jobs and produce well, but i don't see any of them being a big contributor against their former team.

If someone need a cheap C/1B/DH/RF Type then Fick is not a bad pickup. I think Fullmer played well for the Angels and I think it may hurt if they can't find someone to adequately replace him.

Paul Wilson, everyone can use pitching and he'll be more consistent this year. After all his injuries he needed a couple of years pitching experience.

Interesting - doesn't look like anyone picked Catalanotto as the guy to stand out in that group.

I was looking good at the All Star break on this selection. Not as good as the end of the season.

Fick was no solution to the Brave hole at 1B.

It looks like Frankie Cat did the most to help his team in 2003; a .299 hitting utility outfielder/infielder with a little power.

Fullmer was looking pretty solid too until he injured his knee. He was on pace to match his 2002 season.

right, but he doesn't really count coz he re-signed with the angels after having been non-tendered

Most of these guys have the potential to make their old club wish they had kept them. I picked Suppan just because I think the Bosox won't know how to act being pitching rich and someone will get hurt.

This is an old thread - on the winter 2002 non-tenders.
