Over at baseball prospectus they are doing the annual STATLG-L internet balloting for the Hall of Fame. This voting is open to anyone. To read the article on this year's election go to:

STATLG-L has been doing this for 11 years. In that twelve of the thirteen (92%) of the people they chose were voted in by the BBWA (not necessarily in the same year). Twelve of the fifteen (80%) of the BBWA electees passed STATLG-L muster.

The three guys who didn't get the STATLG-L vote were Don Sutton, Tony Perez, and Kirby Puckett. I agreed with them on Perez, was ambivalent on Puckett, and was surprised on Sutton. To keep Sutton out establishes a pretty high bar for future entrants. His SABR stats aren't very special but his counting stats are.

The STATLG-L voting did "elect" Gary Carter whom the voters of the BBWA and Netshrine have failed to honor.
