This story amazed me just for the sheer volume of victims. Over 30,000 victims of identity theft in this one ring:

They lost money out of bank accounts, had things run up on their credit cards, all without any idea until it was too late. First off, I think these 3 should get the maximum sentence allowed. I know they didn't kill anyone, but they've severely damaged a lot of people's lives. And secondly, is there any way to really stop this? It seems like anyone with access to a credit agency's records could find out everything they need to know about any of us. I try not to give important info out very often, but I don't know if this can be prevented.
